Monday

Old School Ashtanga Primary Series

Flow through the traditional Primary Series from the opening invocation (in Sanskrit) through each posture (in Sanskrit and English) with hands-on assistance so you can experience balanced alignment, strengthen weak muscles and stretch tight ones.

 

Mashup Vinyasa

A free-flow class drawing from the Ashtanga tradition and incorporating powerful techniques from other traditions to develop strength and flexibility while detoxifying the mind and body.

 

Tuesday

ChillOut Yoga

A gentle to moderate class suitable for beginners and others looking for a meditative experience that builds awareness of the body and its energetic systems through union with the breath.

 

Wednesday

Community NRG Yoga ($6 drop in)

A powerful set routine for clearing blockages from the energy channels, opening and freeing the joints, and strengthening the muscles of the lower body. This routine is great for morning practice, wake up and smell the yoga, hon!

 

Old School Ashtanga Primary Series Review

A step-by-step review of the traditional primary series as taught by Sri Pattabhi Jois to Nancy Gilgoff back in the day (before Madonna made it popular!). Learn how to make each asana an effective remedy for physical and structural imbalances as well as a powerful meditation to calm the mind and spirit.

 

Thursday

Yoga 6 Pack for Back Care

Primary focus is on strengthening the muscles responsible for stabilizing the lower back - the abdominals (rectus abdominus, obliques, and transverse abdominus), erector spinae, piriformis, quadratus lumborum, etc). Not a killer sit-up routine (which is ineffective at best) but an evolution of awareness building exercises and carefully targeted movement and stabilization routines which can be applied to standing, seated, balancing, and other poses as well as in your daily life.
